Over a period of three Saturdays, La Grande Rotarians removed walls and ceiling from the left half of the internal construction that hid the Liberty Theatre from view. The construction added to the building in the early 1960’s converted the Theatre to commercial space.
Rotarians and Liberty Foundation volunteers joined effort to remove much of this structure. Seen below are before and after pictures showing the results of the destruction crew and the clean-up crew’s efforts:
Boards, nails, insulation, ceiling tile, plaster, lighting–what a mess!
Now you can see the original east wall of the Theatre and the organ loft and ceiling!
