Jim and Rita McMahan’s Medical Mission to Uganda

Jim and Rita McMahan reported on their trip to Africa this last Tuesday, July 18, 2017. They traveled to Uganda in February and spent time in a town called Lugazi. There they joined up with a Christian pastor from the country, Hudson Subi, the leader of a thriving church, school, and orphanage in this growing part of the country.  Jim and Rita worked with a team of volunteers to triage needy medical and dental patients in the region. Serving at least 300 medical patients and extracting 200 teeth, they used the church as the clinic and developed makeshift surgery, examination, and dental chairs to accommodate the health needs of the people.  Jim had plenty of dentistry to practice as the children continually chew on sugar cane.  Rita managed the medical patients and organized their charts. Service above self–something the McMahan’s practice as part of their dedication as Christians and Rotarians.
