Rotary District 5100 Youth Exchange Program

Foreign Exchange Students from 22 different countries were recently hosted by the La Grande Rotary. Between February 6th through 9th, 80 young people visited eastern Oregon and the Grande Ronde Valley.
During their days here they visited the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Pendleton Skate City, Anthony Lakes Ski Area and several others. Several organizations sponsored this rich exchange of culture: The Rotary Club of Hermiston, Rotary Club of La Grande, Cove High School, Cove Girls Basketball team, the Maridell Center, La Grande AARP, Boy Scout Troop #514, Primo’s Pizza, Cove Ascension School, and several Private grade schools in Union County.
For over 75 years, students and host families have broadened their horizons through Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and over 8,000 students each year participate in the program, which is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs.
Rotary clubs are made up of volunteers who are involved in community service, emphasize high ethical standards, and work toward peace and understanding in the world. Over 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 32,000 clubs create the extensive network that provides support for Youth Exchange.
